Repair service finds iPad’s camera slot

The folks at Mission:Repair have received iPad replacement parts from Apple. While checking them out, they noticed a slot that seems like it could accommodate an iSight. So they pulled an iSight camera from a MacBook pro and guess what happened. It fit perfectly inside the slot in the iPad’s frame. In the picture at right, you see the iPad’s frame (above and below) and the MacBook Pro’s iSight (center).

And to add a little more fuel to the fire, some eagle-eyed event watchers claim that the iPad Jobs held on stage at last Wednesday’s event actually did have what looks like a camera along the top bezel.

If you’re not going to buy one until it’s got a camera, it looks like your prayers will eventually be answered.

Apple’s upcoming tablet spotted on the interwebz?

Apple Tablet Testing AppUsage Apple’s upcoming tablet spotted on the interwebz?

According to mobile applications analytics firm Flurry, the Apple tablet is alive and kicking in the halls of Apple’s Cupertino campus.

The analytics firm has supposedly detected the presence of an estimated fifty Apple tablets, first detected last October, whose location can be traced back to Cupertino.

The tablet, whose usage has spiked in recent weeks, is reportedly testing over 200 different applications, the bulk of which are games, entertainment, news, books, and lifestyle applications.

I couldn’t imagine a possible tablet running anything other than OS 4.0. So whether this is just a new iPhone in testing, sonething else, or even a way to throw people off track, we don’t know.

Apple tablet spotted on Clearwire website?

clearwire tablet Apple tablet spotted on Clearwire website? If you were a hardcore skeptic and entertaining serious doubts about the Apple tablet, well, let’s just say Clearwire’s latest home page won’t do you any good. Spotted just behind the Zune HD there, and to the left of a PSP Go, there is an odd looking creature with a shiny touch screen, a dock on the left side and a background and toolbar that looks suspiciously Apple-esque. Unfortunately, it’s also a fake tablet image we’ve seen before that has floated around the internetz. Better luck next time, Clearwire?

New iWork Cloud?

While it is not anything new to see Apple job postings, TechCrunch spotted a listing for iWork that stood out from the crowd. It was a year ago that Apple opened up iWork.com to beta testing. It allows the sharing of iWork documents, spreadsheets and presentations with anyone with access to a modern web browser, on a Mac or PC. On December 22nd Apple posted that they are seeking an Applications Engineer for the iWork team and they hint that more than just online sharing might be in store for iWork.

It has now been uncovered that Apple actually registered the term “Slate” back in the early 1990s. So now its really anyones guess as to what the new tablet’s name could be. Apple does own the iSlate trademark, but now looking back in history it isn’t the first time this name has appeared. Apple was experimenting with tablet type devices in the 90s although they never made it to the production line.

This new news seems to fall right in place with prior reports that Apple has planned a late January event, which could possibly be the day they announce the new device. Even more discoveries have shown that apple owns the trademarked name “iSlate” which could quite possibly be the name of the new tablet.
